Chief Pope is a pompous old arse and I can’t believe he and Brenda ever hooked up but I don’t’ want Brenda to be the new Chief of Police. Given that level of authority she just wouldn’t’ be Brenda anymore. She flouts the rules enough in her current position, she wouldn’t’ be able to do that and be effective as Chief of Police.
In this episode Brenda goes up against the Army and the FBI in order to solve the murder of three soldiers just returned from Afghanistan.
The Army Major, played by Gary Cole, believes the murders to be an act of terrorism. In order to expedite a resolution to the case he insists that Brenda grants immunity to gang member T-Ball whose twin brother was one of the dead soldiers. Pope pushes for this and it turns out that they have given a free pass to a two time killer.
The murder of the soldiers was one of mistaken identity. They gang were out to get T-Ball all along for killing an elderly store owner and his 8 year old grandson.
Poor Brenda. You wonder how she is going to get justice for the elderly man and his grandson until the end, when Brenda let’s the gang deal with the situation. Ultimately you know this means death for T-Ball. It felt like Brenda had crossed the line dropping T-Ball outside his home with the street filled with angry gang members but, how else was she going to get peace of mind?
